    A little history

    How Sunningdale got here

    1. 1932

      J. Gordon Thompson purchases 100 acres of farmland, roughly three miles beyond London's northern city limits.

    2. 1934

Nine holes by Stanley Thompson open on July 14, named after Sunningdale near London, England.

    3. 1960

The club grows to 27 holes.

    4. Early 1970s

A second course by Robbie Robinson brings the club to 36 holes.

    5. Around 2000

Homes arrive around the club, and new streets are still being added.

    6. 2024

A plan for about 1,360 homes on part of the golf lands goes to council.

Sunningdale, London Ontario: your questions answered

Something else on your mind? Call or text Mackenzie and Dan at 519-670-3027.

Is Sunningdale a good place to live?

For move up buyers, families wanting space and anyone who loves golf or trails, yes. Sunningdale has newer brick homes on quiet cul-de-sacs, the Medway Creek valley and Masonville a few minutes south. It is less suited to going car free, walking to shops or an entry level budget.

Where is Sunningdale in London, Ontario?

Sunningdale sits in north London. It generally stretches from Fanshawe Park Road West up to the city limits past the golf club, with Wonderland Road on the west and Richmond Street on the east. Masonville lies just south, and Fox Hollow is across Wonderland.

How much does a house in Sunningdale cost?

June 2026 saw a median list price near $799,000. Published figures put detached homes around $800,000 to $1.3 million, and custom builds on golf course or ravine lots go well beyond that. Expect about $450,000 to $750,000 for townhomes and condos. Ask us what has actually sold on your street.

Is Sunningdale named after the golf course?

Yes. It takes its name from the Sunningdale Golf & Country Club, which borrowed its own name from the well known Sunningdale course outside London, England.

    What schools serve Sunningdale?

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School covers the area, and many public students go to Masonville Public School. Northwest Public School opened to the west in 2025. For secondary, public students usually go to A.B. Lucas, and Catholic students to St. André Bessette or Mother Teresa. Catchments are shifting, so always check with the school board.

Are the houses in Sunningdale new?

Mostly. The housing is largely single detached, built after 2000, and new districts keep arriving.

    Is Sunningdale walkable?

Not for everyday errands. The neighbourhood has very little commercial space, so most people drive to Masonville or along Fanshawe Park Road. For walking, the draw is the parks and the Medway valley.

Is there public transit in Sunningdale?

Limited. The ward councillor pointed out in 2024 that some subdivisions finished nearly ten years earlier still lacked any transit. In 2026 the City asked the province to fund rapid transit to Masonville.

    What is changing in Sunningdale?

Work to widen Sunningdale Road West to four lanes runs through 2026 and 2027, and the Richmond Street intersection should wrap up in fall 2026. About 1,360 homes are planned for part of the golf lands.

Is part of the golf course being developed?

A proposal for the golf lands where Sunningdale meets Wonderland Road would take out 6 holes in phase one, and eventually 18 of the club's 36. Ask us for the latest on its status.

How far is Sunningdale from Western University?

Western's campus is about 5 km away, roughly 10 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bus. University Hospital is about the same.

What is the postal code for Sunningdale?

Sunningdale addresses use the N6G postal code prefix. The area has been in Ward 7, but ward boundaries were redrawn for the October 2026 election, so check the City's ward map.
