Buying in London, Ontario
It depends a lot on the neighbourhood and the type of home. Townhouses and condos sit well below detached homes, and areas like Old North, Byron and Riverbend sit at the top end. Ask us for a current number for the areas you're looking at.
You don't have to, but in most cases the seller pays the buyer's agent commission, so having one on your side usually costs you nothing out of pocket.
In Canada the minimum is 5% of the first $500,000 and 10% of the portion up to $1,500,000. Homes at $1,500,000 or more need 20%. Our mortgage calculator works it out for any price.
Land transfer tax, legal fees, title insurance, a home inspection and adjustments. London has no municipal land transfer tax, and first-time buyers can get up to $4,000 back on the provincial tax.
It changes month to month and by price range. Well priced homes in popular areas can still go in days, while others sit for weeks. We'll tell you what's happening in the areas you're watching.
Sometimes. Our own coming soon listings go to people on our listing alerts first, before they reach the public sites.
