Argyle is a strong fit if you

    • Want a detached house for well under the London average
    • Need three bedrooms without a big budget
    • Work or study at Fanshawe College, about 2 km away
    • Love trying new food. Dundas St East is known as Little India
    • Want an indoor pool, creekside parks and real community spirit

    Look elsewhere if you

    • Want a polished, walkable main street. Dundas East is still car oriented
    • Want heritage character. Most homes are post war
    • Want west end shops and amenities close by
    • Want brand new everything. Newer pockets are only on the east and south edges

Is Argyle a good place to live?

For first time buyers, families who want space and anyone tied to Fanshawe College, it can be a great fit. Homes cost well below the London average, and there are good parks and an indoor pool. It is a weaker match if you picture a main street with polish, or heritage homes.

Where is Argyle in London, Ontario?

You'll find Argyle on London's east side. Its heart is Dundas Street East near Clarke Road and Argyle Mall, and it takes in the Hale Street District, Trafalgar Heights, Nelson Park and Pottersburg.

How much does a house in Argyle cost?

Through 2026 the median list price sat near $520,000 for Argyle houses and $340,000 for townhouses, with condos from about $170,000. Street by street, recent sales tell the real story, so ask us and we will pull them for you.

    What schools serve Argyle?

Lord Nelson Public School is on Royal Crescent, and Clarke Road Secondary School sits beside Argyle Arena. Several other public and Catholic elementary schools serve different parts of Argyle. Always confirm with the TVDSB or LDCSB for a specific address.

What is the postal code for Argyle?

Argyle addresses use the N5V and N5W postal code prefixes, depending on the street. Argyle is in Ward 2 of the City of London.

How did Argyle get its name?

The name likely traces to "Argyle Park," a subdivision promoted around 1914, a nod to the Scottish heritage of many Londoners.

How old are the homes in Argyle?

Most went up after the Second World War. Roughly 40% are 1960s and 1970s builds, while the east and south edges gained newer streets over the past two decades.

Why is Argyle called Little India?

The nickname grew out of the many South Asian restaurants and businesses opening along Dundas Street East, something CBC covered in 2023.

    What parks are in Argyle?

Kiwanis Park follows Pottersburg Creek and has trails, a spray pad and a skate park. At East Lions Park you'll find the community centre, home to an indoor pool and a gym. There is also an off leash dog area near the river and several smaller parks.

Is Argyle close to Fanshawe College?

Yes. It's about 2 km from central Argyle to Fanshawe's main campus, roughly 10 minutes by bike or 15 by bus.

What is happening on Dundas Street East?

Better lighting, sidewalks, trees and storefronts on Dundas from Highbury Avenue to Clarke Road are the goals of Argyle's Core Area Community Improvement Plan.

What was on the Argyle Mall site before?

From 1947 to 1955 the site held the Skyway Drive-In, only the second drive in theatre in Ontario.
